Airports are far from an ideal place to get some sleep. But if you find yourself in a situation where you need to get some rest at an airport due to a long layover or a delayed flight, it helps to know how to do it in the best way possible.
Solo female travel Sabina Trojanova recently shared several helpful tips for sleeping at an airport in a video on TikTok. The clip went viral, surpassing 2 million views since being posted back in October.
Trojanova was traveling to Mexico when her flight ended up being delayed for 10 hours. She decided to get some rest and used the opportunity to help others who might find themselves in the same situation in the future.
According to Trojanova, she prefers to get her sleep in the airside, the area beyond passport and customs control, because it has more “seating, lounges, food, etc.” However, she couldn’t do it in this particular case “because of timing.” She picked the “second best scenario,” which is the luggage pickup area.
Trojanova recommended her followers to check out the Sleeping in Airports website, which offers plenty of tips and information about sleeping at airports. She also recommends layered outfits, equipping yourself with a blanket (which you can also use in the airplane), and being near other people due to “safety in numbers.”
Finally, she advises you to secure your belongings in some way, so no one can take them from you. Trojanova improvised, tying one end of wired earphones to her wrist and the other to her luggage.
