Stunning Filming Locations from “His Dark Materials” You Should Visit

Dafne Keen in "His Dark Materials"

HBO gave us another visually stunning show with fantasy drama His Dark Materials. Some of the filming locations from this show look out of this world, but they’re actually real – and you can visit them right now.

Svalbard, Norway

Polar bears are a symbol of Svalbard, so it’s not difficult to see why the creative team behind His Dark Materials decided to head to this Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean, where they filmed some of the crucial scenes taking place in the north.

Oxford, England

His Dark Materials was filmed in many locations throughout England, but Oxford is a must-visit for the fans of the show. After all, this was the place where Lyra grew up, and many notable attractions made an appearance on the show.

Crickhowell, Wales

Before heading to the Arctic, Lyra and the gang are seen pulling into the gritty harbor of Trollesund, which is one of the very important locations in this series. Trollesund doesn’t actually exist, and these scenes were filmed in Crickhowell where they built a whole new town for this show.
