Speaking of Newcastle’s best spots for watersports, Merewether Beach is known as a surfer’s paradise due to its consistent waves and world-class surf breaks. If you’re in the mood to catch some waves while in Australia, this beach is a place to be, and it even hosts Australia’s largest surfing competition Surfest.

If you are in a relaxed mood and want to spend the afternoon chilling out, then Wategoes beach is for you. Paddle in its sky-blue waters or take a walk up to the bay’s lighthouse for stunning views. You also might bump into the Hemsworth brothers.

Chinamans beach offers breath-taking scenery and is not as busy as other major beaches in the region. Although the water can be quite chilly, the beautiful open horizon where the sea seems to flow up into the sky more than makes up for it.

Noosa Heads, Queensland

Noosa Heads is located in an area known as the Sunshine Coast. Enticing white sands give way to clear blue water on a beach that is only a short walk away from Noosa National Park. For any nature lovers out there, this is the place for you.

This is another quiet beach found opposite the sleepy town of Bermagui. Since there are no waves, it is the perfect spot for families who just want to splash around in the soothing waters and build sandcastles.

This is probably the most famous beach in Australia. Located in Sydney’s eastern suburb, it is easy to access if you are only passing through the city. There is also the possibility that you might feature on the Australian TV show Bondi Rescue if you are there in the summer season!
