Basketball is one of America’s most popular and, without a doubt, its most global sport. After being invented in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1891 by James Naismith, this sport now has a world-class museum and Hall of Fame named for its founder in the city where the sport was born.

Located only 90 minutes from Boston in Western Massachusetts, you will find the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in downtown Springfield on the banks of the Connecticut River.

The newest incarnation of the Hall of Fameת opened in 2002, hosts a treasure trove of historical artifacts and exhibitions dedicated to the history of the sport, its best players, and the teams and coaches who have changed the game.

You will find jerseys and shoes from players such as Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson in the hallowed halls of this museum, where it is possible to get lost for hours and hours.

The cherry on top of your tour is the last stop at the museum’s “Center Court,” where you will have the opportunity to play on a court inside the Hall of Fame and play with real NBA basketballs and feel inspired after learning about so many of the game’s heroes.
