Pretty much every Latin American capital is home to quite a few beautiful churches, and Bogota is no different. The architectural beauty of this Colombian city knows no bounds, and here are three beautiful churches that make Bogota even more breathtaking.

Primatial Cathedral of Bogotá

Plaza de Bolívar is one of Bogota’s main attractions, and it wouldn’t be the same without this beautiful cathedral. Its history is pretty interesting because Colombia was still under Spanish rule when its building commenced, but it was only completed after the country declared independence and officially opened its doors in 1823.

Salt Cathedral

Bolivia is home to some of the world’s largest salt flats, and salt-based attractions are scattered all around it. The Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá is located in close proximity to Bogota, and it was carved in a salt mine, 200 meters underground.

The National Shrine of Our Lady of Carmen

If you’re an architecture lover visiting Bogota, this beautiful church deserves a spot on your bucket list. Located in the lively neighborhood of La Candelaria, this building is instantly recognizable thanks to its distinctive red-and-white striped façade. It was built in the Florentine Gothic Style during the early 20th century by the famed architect Giovanni Buscaglione.

Spanish is one of the most commonly spoken languages on Earth, coming in second behind only Mandarin Chinese when it comes to native speakers. It is also a common language for non-natives to learn, and there are plenty of places around the world that offer up great opportunities for a nice vacation and a place to practice your skills in the language. If you are looking to plan a vacation in which you will be able to practice your Spanish, keep these three awesome cities in mind!

Madrid, Spain

The capital of Spain is a vibrant, charming city with world-class museums, the gorgeous Retiro Park, and a wide variety of superb restaurants and tapas bars to explore. The neutral, European Spanish spoken here makes it a great place to put your skills in the language to the test.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

The largest city in southern South America is Buenos Aires, which is often referred to as the Paris of the continent. The garrulous Argentinian people will definitely give you plenty to listen to and plenty of opportunity to talk in this cosmopolitan destination.

Bogota, Colombia

The jewel of the Andes is Bogota, the capital and largest city of Colombia. Colombians are often considered to speak the most neutral form of Spanish of any natives of the language, so for beginners, Bogota is a great place to check out the city and also take your first steps with español.

Bogota, Colombia is one of the world’s highest capital cities, located at nearly 9,000 feet above sea level in a valley surrounded by some of the highest peaks of the Andes Mountains. This fantastic South American metropolis has plenty of natural areas and beautiful sights to explore in and around the city, but there is no way that you can visit Bogota without making a stop at one of the most beautiful spots: Monserrate.

Located just east of the city in the spot where the urban sprawl of the city stops at the eastern half of Colombia’s Andes begins, this mountain towers at over 10,000 feet above sea level and provides spectacular views of Bogota in a peaceful, serene environment.

There are three ways to access the summit of Monserrate: by aerial tramway, by funicular, or by foot. The aerial tramway and funicular both provide a thrilling ride to the stop with gorgeous views of the city, but hiking up is also great as an option for exercise and for smelling the fresh mountain air as you work towards the top.

At the summit, you will find a collection of vantage points from which to see the huge metropolis of Bogota as well as a small church built in the 17th century which still stands and can be visited still.

Make an afternoon of it and be sure to stay at the top for the sunset over the city if you are lucky enough to be there on a clear day. If not, any time is a great time of day to make the trek up to the top of Monserrate. Have fun!

Colombia is an exotic country that lives in the rhythm of music and nature. Here are a few places that will make your eyes pop with glee and your heart skip a beat.

Bogotá

An amazing mix of architecture, good food and nature – where else can you find this if not in the capital, Bogotá.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BzQuRi3JK9m/

Walking through the streets you’ll see all kind of shops, markets and restaurants where you can taste pan de yucca and ajiaco, a typical Colombian dish. You can also run into some music festivals and conventions, and as complete opposite – you can go hiking on the Andes.

Cartagena

One of the most romantic cities in the world will capture your heart too. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this city has a rich history and tradition, and also a rich cuisine.

The posta negra cartagenera is a dish you must try – it’s beef served with coconut rice that taste’s amazing!

The Coffee Cultural Landscape

You can’t visit Colombia without tasting original Colombian coffee. The Coffee Cultural Landscape is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can enjoy this warm beverage.

Seventeen towns around the departments of Valle del Cauca, Quindio, Risaralda and Caldas compose this site and are guilty for probably the best coffee in the world.

Spanish is one of the most popular languages on Earth. The third most-spoken language on the planet, it’s easy to find fantastic cities to travel to if you’re looking to practice your Spanish skills.

Here are four cities that I recommend if you want to practice and test your español.

Bogota, Colombia

Colombia’s capital city is full of museums and parks and is surrounded by the gorgeous Andes Mountains. The Spanish spoken here is clear and easy to understand, making it a perfect proving ground for your improving Spanish!

https://www.instagram.com/p/B1EZzNLnjYE/

Madrid, Spain

The Spanish capital is one of the largest Spanish-speaking cities on the planet with over 3 million inhabitants. It’s easy to practice your Spanish when ordering tapas or grabbing a cafe con leche from a vendor in Retiro Park.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Buenos Aires is an underrated destination, combining the architecture and elegance of Europe’s best cities with a Latin rhythm and soul. Don’t be surprised if it’s hard to understand the thick porteno accent, but you’ll have a great time either way.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

San Juan is an interesting fusion of the Spanish and English languages as well as American and Latin American traditions. If your Spanish is still shaky, don’t worry! Here, you can practice the language while also knowing that many natives speak English if you need help.

Colombia is an exotic country that lives in the rhythm of music and nature. Here are a few places that will make your eyes pop with glee and your heart skip a beat.

Bogotá

An amazing mix of architecture, good food and nature – where else can you find this if not in the capital, Bogotá.
