Slovakia is one of Europe’s most underrated countries and if it’s still not on your bucket list, it’s only because you haven’t heard of it yet. This country is home to many magical landmarks, starting with its beautiful castles that look straight out of a fairy tale.

Bratislava Castle

Located in Slovakia’s Bratislava, this gigantic hilltop castle complex was built in the 9th century. It’s one of the city’s top tourist attractions and it’s now home to the historical museum and landscaped gardens.

Bojnice Castle

Slovakia is home to many magical castles, but none look dreamier than this one. Bojnice Castle looks straight out of a Disney movie thanks to its Romanesque style architecture, gentle walls, and vibrant turquoise domes.

Orava Castle

This castle near the Polish border has been around since the 13th century. Its Gothic exterior and hilltop location made it pretty popular with filmmakers, and it was even featured in the TV show Dracula.

Spiš Castle

What separates this 12th-century castle apart from all the others is its gigantic size. With an area of over 40,000 square meters, protected by fortified, stone walls, Spiš is one of Europe’s largest castles.
