The new Netflix show Squid Game became planetary popular in just a few weeks and got more people interested in South Korea. One of the characters in the show mentioned Jeju Island and now the whole world suddenly wants to know more about it. Here are three reasons why you should consider visiting this Korean province.

South Korea’s Highest Mountain

Standing at 1,950 meters above sea level, the Hallasan volcano is the tallest point in South Korea. It’s possible to hike up and down in one day if you start early enough. This UNESCO-protected reserve has a crater lake, alpine plants, and a rich life. Join in on a hiking tour to explore.

Beaches

While there are many beaches in South Korea, it seems like the most beautiful ones are on Jeju Island. Pale sand and blue sea create a fantastic view no matter where you’re staying. Visit Jungmun Beach, Emerald Bay, Gwakji, or Hamdoek Beach.

Ollie Walking Paths

In the local language, ollie means a winding path to the front door, and these charming paths got their name from it. You’ll never get enough of the amazing nature on Jeju Island and the views are some of the most stunning you’ll ever see.

South Korea’s Jeju Island is worth the visit for its volcanic formations and exquisite beaches, but that’s not the only reason why tourists can’t resist it. Its spectacular waterfalls are a part of its charm, and the natural beauty of Jeju Island wouldn’t be as captivating without them.

Jeongbang Waterfall

Jeongbang Waterfall is one of the most beautiful scenic wonders of this volcanic island. What makes it so significant is its close proximity to the ocean and many mysterious legends that surround its origin. According to one of them, there’s a holy dragon living beneath the surface.

Cheonjiyeon Waterfall

This waterfall is known for its diverse plant and animal life and unusual rock formations that surround it. Its name can be literally translated as “the sky connected with the land,” and there’s a charming artificial pond at the bottom of the waterfall.

Cheonjeyeon Waterfalls

Not to be confused with Cheonjiyeon, this three-tier waterfall has a similar name that can be translated as “pond of the emperor of heaven.” Legend has it its water has healing properties because seven nymphs bathed in the pond every night—but swimming in the pond is strictly prohibited nowadays.
