It is impossible to cover all of New York City in a day. It is one of the most exciting cities in the world, and it is filled with endless possibilities for having a good time. If you only have a day to explore, here’s our recommended itinerary.

Early Morning

Wake up early and head to the Brooklyn Bridge, High Street stop on the subway. The earlier you get there, the less busy it will be and you’ll be able to get those gorgeous skyline photos.

For breakfast, head into Manhattan and grab a New York bagel. If you fancy something a little classier, we recommend tea and scones at Alice’s Tea Cup. It’s an adorable little spot and everything is Alice in Wonderland themed.

Late Morning

If you headed to Alice’s Tea Cup, you will be near Central Park. Use the rest of your morning to explore. It’s huge, so you won’t cover the whole park but entering from 5th Avenue will mean you are close to the major attractions. Check out Shakespeare’s garden, Turtle Pond and keep your ears open for the talented buskers that head to the park each day.

Early Afternoon

Once you have explored Central Park, head to the Met. A Met ticket covers three museums, but if you only have time for one, visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art on 5th Avenue. It contains mind-blowing exhibitions from all over the world and you could easily spend an entire 24 hours there alone.

Late Afternoon

When you have finished in the Met, head to either the East Village or Queens. Here you will find some great food hubs and can experience a different cultural side to the city. East Village is a great spot for street art and vintage shops.

Early Evening

In the evening, you must experience a New York show. If you can’t afford Broadway, head to a much more affordable off-Broadway show, which are often dress rehearsals for the main event. New York Comedy Club is also a great spot if you like stand-up but Todaytixx will show you all the last-minute discounted tickets available.

Late Evening

If you want to go out drinking, Brooklyn offers some fantastic alternative culture. Alternatively, grab a cocktail in central Manhattan. Whatever you do, make sure you get to Times Square before midnight. At 11:57 pm, the billboards synchronize for a stunning light show. It is also the best place to people watch and finish your day in New York with a bang.
