]]>Lake Retba, or Lac Rose, is a mesmerizing pink lake in western Senegal. Its unique color comes from a high concentration of a harmless type of algae that produces a pink pigment in response to the lake’s high salt content. Visitors can swim, take a boat tour, or try sandboarding in the surrounding dunes for a fun adventure.
Fujigoko, or “Fuji Five Lakes,” is a lake-filled region at the base of Mount Fuji in Japan. The area is filled with cherry blossom trees, which, come spring, explode into a sea of pink blooms as far as the eye can see. In certain parks, there are very few other tree varieties among them, which creates the appearance of an entirely pink forest. Blossoms peak in mid-April, though the entire blooming period can last for about 4 months total.
Gili Pasir is a beach off the island of Lombok in Indonesia best known for its coral pink sand. It’s quite peaceful and ideal for tourists looking to swim, snorkel, or just relax and bask in the sun. As the area surrounding the beach is uninhabited and its location is fairly remote, we recommend booking a tour ahead of time to make the most of your experience.

Located in close proximity to Kalbarri National Park, Hutt Lagoon is a little bit easier to access than Lake Hillier since it’s not a part of an island. They’re both pink due to the presence Dunaliella salina, but Hutt Lagoon is even a better example of this natural phenomenon since it’s home to the world’s largest microalgae production plant.
Lake Spencer in the Goldfields-Esperance region is also known as Pink Lake, but it doesn’t necessarily live up to its nickname. Its water used to be pink due to salt concentration, but external changes and weather conditions affected it over the years, and the lake is blue-violet in hue these days.
