]]>The 236-square-foot foot bubbles were created by Eye in the Sky and they’re made from high-tech polyester fabric. As we’re sure you’re aware, it gets hot in Thailand, and the bubbles are air-conditioned with a large bedroom with a king-size bed and living space with a seating area. There’s also an en-suite bathroom. While visiting the resort, you don’t even have to leave for meals as the staff brings a dinner basket, so you can watch the sun go down as elephants walk on by.
The 22 elephants that live on the property have been rescued from Thailand’s city streets, so they’re free to roam their natural habitat. If you want to learn more about how elephants think and behave, you can do a Walking With Giants tour. You’ll get to see the elephants socialize with each other while they take river baths or engage in mud playtime.

]]>The building was built in 1907 by early settlers who arrived in the area. It was originally called “Flanagan Hotel,” after James (Jimmy) Flanagan, who was a notable character in Saskatoon of those days, known for owning “all the horses in Saskatoon” at some point after arriving in the city in 1902.
The building is registered with the Saskatoon Heritage Society as a Protected Building.
Noticeable particularly in the lobby and hallways, as well as in the dining area, much of the original design of the time was recreated by the current owners. This includes a magnificent wooden staircase in the lobby, original candlestick chandeliers and the gilded decorations on the ceilings and large hallway mirrors.
The hotel has a real old fashioned feeling but is completely modern in terms of the rooms and the amenities, including luxurious boutique accommodation options. The Senator has a steakhouse, a wine bar, a pub, and a brewery on-premises, and as it is located in the very middle of City Center, it’s a great spot to go explore what the city has to offer.
