A large granite rock was eroded in a surprisingly specific way, with eye and nose sockets opened in it along time. Centuries later, it now eerily looks like a giant skull, certainly worth seeing.
An annual event that happens every September in the park, this is one for the stargazers. The festival includes a tour of the model of the solar system at the observatory, guided hikes around the park trails, and a Star Night Party enjoying the clear sky at this light-pollution-free spot. This is an all-ages event!
Joshua Tree National Park has a rather developed accessibility plan. The park includes some wheelchair accessible trails and campgrounds, the tours are available in sign language and with tactile interpretation, and they are now preparing descriptive audio for all their information.
