]]> If you are familiar with the world-famous Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, you probably know about the famous Sugarloaf Mountain which towers above the city. On top of the mountain, you’ll find the stunning Cristo Redentor statue as well as picture-perfect views of the city and its bay.

The Sugarloaf Cable Car is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Opened in 1912, this feat of engineering was only the third cableway to be opened in the world when it was inaugurated!

After renovations and plenty of maintenance work, this marvelous cable car is still going strong. Running from sea level at Rio’s Praia Vermelha to the summit of the 1,299-foot mountain, this cable car might not be one of the tallest in the world, but it is certainly one of the most stunning ones that you’ll ever see.

In just over a mile, you’ll be transported from next to the ocean to the city’s highest point at a speed of just over 13 miles per hour. The views and experience are something you’ll never forget, and it’s an absolute must-do attraction for any visitor in this Brazilian city.
