America’s full of ski towns, and some of the best ones happen to be in Colorado. Between the deserts, river canyons, and the snow-covered Rocky Mountains, the Western state is diverse and when it comes to skiing, it’s the place to be. Whether you’re looking for challenging terrain, luxury ski lodges, or lots to do on the slopes, make sure you visit one of these three ski towns in Colorado.

Telluride

Surrounded on three sides by 14,000-foot peaks, this former mining town lies in a box canyon, and its natural beauty and solitude can’t be matched. Check out the free, scenic gondola that links Telluride to Mountain Village. Telluride Ski Resort has an average annual snowfall of 280 inches, 148 trails, and many terrain parks.

Breckenridge

The state’s largest historic district is in Breckenridge and Western movie sets have used it as a backdrop for ski runs. You can hop between mountains and explore different terrain on the free Summit Stage bus service to Cooper Mountain and Keystone. For snowshoe and crosscountry ski trails head to Breckenridge Nordic Center.

Vail

Vail is one of the country’s most famous ski destinations and you don’t want to miss Vail Ski Resort. There are also tons of five-star hotels and a great bar and restaurant scene. Vail Village and Lionshead Village can be found at the base of the ski resort and they have more than 5,000 acres of skiable land.
