]]>One of the more famous stairways in the United States, the 15th Avenue tiled steps in San Francisco, California is a neighborhood community project started in 2003. This 163 step stairway is covered in a tiled mosaic representing the sea all the way up to the stars. There’s also a beautiful garden on the south side of the steps.
Valparaíso, Chile is one of the country’s most beautiful cities, earning it the nickname Jewel of the Pacific. It’s also known as the street art capital of South America, with gorgeous murals around the city. Some of them, like this piano one, are painted onto stairways.
The 142-step Staircase of Santa Maria del Monte in Sicily, Italy is impressive on any day with its traditional ceramic art dating all the way back to 1608. But if you visit during the yearly La Scala Flower Festival, you’ll catch it decorated with thousands of potted plants to create a large-scale flower design that is absolutely mind-blowing.
