The Great Wall of China is one of the most fascinating tourist attractions in the world. Each year, more than 10 million people visit the famous landmark, but not all of them manage to fully enjoy it. This is mainly because they make one of the following mistakes.

Visiting During the Summer

Sure, it might be sunny and clear skies all above, but the summer might be the worst time to visit the Great Wall of China. You will have to navigate the big crowds while also facing big heat, which might make it troublesome to get the proper experience. Instead, choose spring or fall when there is less of a crowd, and the weather is more pleasant.

Coming Unprepared

Expect a lot of walking when you get to the Great Wall of China. This is why coming unprepared can prove costly. Forget about flip flops or light sneakers and instead opt for hiking boots or some other comfy shoes. Also, don’t forget to bring food and water, as you won’t be able to buy them on site.

Failing to Research the Wall’s Sections

Officially, the Great Wall of China is 5,500 miles long, at least the part that has been preserved. This is why you should do your research before visiting in order to figure out which section you want to check out. For example, the Mutianyu section is the most popular among ordinary tourists for its restoration, while the Huanghuacheng section offers unique scenery.
