Montenegro is one of those tiny European countries that most people haven’t heard of, but those who had the pleasure of visiting it can’t help but come back time and time again. Most tourists are here to enjoy Montenegro’s beautiful seaside, but the serine lakes in this country are equally breathtaking.

Lake Biograd

Most of Montenegro’s lakes are located inside the country’s most mesmerizing national parks, and that’s the case with this one. Biogradska Gora National Park is home to seven glacial lakes, but this is the biggest and most popular one. It’s one of the best day-trip destinations from the capital city of Podgorica because it can be reached in just two hours by car.

Black Lake

Nature lovers shouldn’t miss Durmitor National Park during their visit to Montenegro. It’s home to some of the country’s most breathtaking natural wonders, including this picturesque glacial lake that offers hiking trails, swimming, kayaking, and a restaurant.

Lake Skadar

Safely tucked away by the border between Albania and Montenegro, Skadar is one of the most beautiful lakes in both of these countries. It also happens to be the largest lake in Southern Europe, and its surrounding area offers many natural wonders worth exploring.
