The world’s longest flight has been put on hold in March of this year when the pandemic hit, but it’s about to be relaunched on November 9th.

The flight from Singapore to New York is going to be even longer now, since the plane is going to land at JFK instead of Newark airport. This will bring the total distance the plane needs to cross from 9,534 to 9,536.5 miles.

The switch was made so Singapore Airlines could work better with a mix of passenger and cargo under the current circumstances. The numbers of passengers are down, mostly because Singapore still doesn’t allow foreigners to enter the country—with some exceptions.

The airline, however, anticipates “significant cargo demand, including pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, and technology firms,” as the company’s crew revealed to CNN.

The longest flight in the world will last 18 hours and 5 minutes when flying from Singapore to JFK, and 18 hours and 40 minutes from JFK to Singapore, due to the headwind. The flight to Singapore means terrible jetlag as passengers arrive two days after departing. The departing time is scheduled for 11:30pm while the arrival time is 6:10am, two days later.
