Lighthouses are worth exploring in each new city you visit, because their coastal cliff-top locations usually offer mesmerizing views of the horizon. Sydney is definitely one of those cities, since it happens to be home to some of the most stunning lighthouses you’ll ever see.
Macquarie Lighthouse
The first and the longest-serving lighthouse in Australia has been around since in 1883, and it’s located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean down the Old South Head Road. In addition to its historical significance, it will also win you over with its striking white color.
Hornby Lighthouse
Located in close proximity to Macquarie Lighthouse on the tip of the South Head, this lighthouse will look equally striking in your pictures. It’s surrounded by many beautiful attractions but still manages to stand out thanks to its striped red and white tower.
Barrenjoey Lighthouse
Some lighthouses deserve to be visited for the beautiful views alone, and that’s certainly the case with Barrenjoey. It takes about an hour to reach it from Sydney, but you won’t regret going for a ride after getting a glimpse of the Hawkesbury River and Broken Bay from this lighthouse.
