Things to do in the Sinai Peninsula

The Egyptian region between Africa and Asia, the Sinai Peninsula is known for its good weather, affordable prices, and being a gateway to the region. If you choose to give Sinai a visit, here are some things you can do.

Sharm El Sheikh

This resort town is Sinai’s fastest-growing travel destination. It’s all about sun, sea, and sand, but without the sky-high prices of other typical beachy resort towns. You can get around on the main highway, Peace Road, by minibus or taxi.

Ras Mohammed National Park

One of the best diving sites in the world, the Ras Mohammed National Park is great for boat tours, snorkeling, and deep-sea diving alike, as it serves as home to more than one thousand species of fish, marine animals, and coral.

St Catherine’s Monastery

Tucked right under Mount Sinai, St Catherine’s Monastery is full of gorgeous, ancient art and even a community of Greek Orthodox monks.

Mount Sinai

Known in Judaism, Islam, and Christianity as the place where Moses received the Ten Commandments from God, Mount Sinai is a popular site for religious pilgrimage. There are two ways—one steep and one not-so-steep—to climb up the mountain. Alternatively, you can also take a camel ride to the top.
