Experienced travelers already know what they can and cannot bring in their carry-on bag, but what about your checked bag? There are certain things you’re allowed to bring in your checked bag but shouldn’t because they could easily get damaged or lost, and here’s what they are.

Electronics

All valuable electronic items that can easily be broken or damaged should never be stored in checked bags. That includes your laptop, camera, iPads, tablets, or even external hard drives. Pack all these electronic in your carry-on suitcase to avoid losing or damaging them.

Important Documents

We’re used to carrying our passport and boarding passes with us in case we need them, but that should be the case with all documents. Important documents, especially those that contain personal information, shouldn’t be stored in a checked bag.

Medication

Even though you can pack your medication in checked baggage, it’s always a better idea to have important meds on-hand in case you need them or the luggage gets lost.

Jewelry

If you plan on bringing valuable jewelry with you it’s best to keep it with you, because you don’t want to lose it in case your luggage gets lost.
