We’re not afraid to admit it: we love points. Whether it’s from swiping cards, filling in forms, or keeping up with our fitness, we take much pleasure in piling up points that we can use for other things. Particularly, travel!

If you’re flying with Delta, there is a clever way to earn a batch of points without even needing to do a thing. We’d like to introduce you to Delta’s 20-minute baggage policy.

By simply filling out a form on the Delta website, you can claim 2,500 SkyMiles if your luggage takes longer than 20 minutes to arrive.

“We’re committed to providing you with reliable and on-time baggage service every time you fly,” Delta stated on its form page. “That’s why we’re backing your bags with a guarantee: if your checked bag doesn’t arrive at the carousel in 20 minutes or less after any domestic flight, you are eligible to receive 2,500 bonus miles.”

Those valuable points can then be spent on routes within the U.S., as well as Puerto Rico.

Delta’s baggage tracking system will be keeping an eye on the time to make sure that those 20 minutes have been exceeded, while overweight baggage and special items sadly don’t count.
