This Land Artist Creates Art Across The Beaches of Wales

Land artist Jon Foreman has been traveling the beaches of Wales creating beautiful natural art.

Tourists hitting up the beaches of the Welsh coast have been surprised to discover pebbles assembled in intricate patterns. Foreman lives in Pembrokeshire, Wales and spends his spare time creating stunning rock patterns along the coast. His art uses entirely natural materials, either from the rocks washed up on the shore or by etching patterns directly into the sand.

“It often becomes a race towards the end as the waves draw closer,” Foreman explains to My Modern Met. “I try to stay to see the work get erased and capture the moment of impact.”

He adds: “I create using material that is made from that environment for that environment. The tide washes it all back to the tide line, and I come back the next day with an empty canvas to work with. People often ask if it bothers me that the work has to disappear eventually. To that, I say: not at all. If anything the fact that it’s short-lived makes it more special to me.”

If you are heading to Pembrokeshire, keep an eye out for the beautiful artworks on the Welsh shores.
