This Quirky Hotel in Bolivia is Made Entirely of Salt

Salt caves and mines around the world have become popular tourist attractions, but have you ever heard of a hotel made of salt? That’s exactly the kind of experience you can find at Bolivia’s Palacio de Sal.

Bolivia is home to Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flat and one of the country’s most popular tourist attractions. Many salt hotels opened in the surrounding area over the years, but none of them comes even close to Palacio de Sal.

This is the first luxury salt hotel in the world, built mainly with salt and in perfect harmony with the remote landscape that surrounds it. Floors, walls, and ceilings at this quirky hotel were all constructed with salt bricks, and the hotel even features salt furniture!

When it was first opened during the ‘90s, this hotel only had a common bathroom and no shower, but that’s no longer the case. It now features all the amenities you’d expect from a luxury hotel, including spa facilities, fitness center, sauna and steam room, hot tub, whirlpool baths, and a saltwater pool.
