Europe boasts some of the most glorious coasts in the world. From Greece’s olive-grove lined shores, to the towering cliffs of the Algarve, a beach holiday in Europe will never disappoint. If you’re looking to catch some late-summer sun, or plannng ahead for next year, check out these must-see destinations.

Nazare, Portugal

Famous for its giant waves (between March and October the waves can reach heights of 100 feet), this small Portugese town has plenty to offer, even if you have no interest in surfing. You’ll be spoilt for choice in terms of where to eat, too.

Red Beach, Santorini

Santorini is one of the most popular Greek islands, and this beach is perhaps its most famous. Stunning rock formations provide this beach with the ‘red’ in its name. You can park on the cliff above the beach and walk down, admiring the striking colors all the way. If you’re getting in the water, take a snorkelling set, as the interesting rock formations and colors continue beneath the waves,

Many countries in Europe boast beautiful beaches, but the three listed here all offer that something extra special. Portugal, Croatia, and Greece will stay warm well into the fall, so don’t assume you’ve missed your chance to visit this year.
