The beautiful Greek island of Santorini is a true sight for sore eyes. With its signature Cycladic architecture of whitewashed houses against the backdrop of deep blue water, this place is filled with attractive spots. But you still have to stay focused somehow when you travel the island, don’t you? Here are three places you can start your sightseeing from.

The Blue Domed Churches

When in Santorini, you have to check out the blue-domed churches, the most popular of which are located in Oia village. The iconic white and blue buildings are the epitomai of all that’s great about the local architecture, and that’s probably why they are so highly popular with photographers.

Ancient Thera

The ancient city of Thera is another great place to visit. Located on the 360-meter high Messavouno mountain, the 9th century BC city is rich with historical and archeological landmarks. A few prominent ones are the Agora, the Basilike Stoa, and the ancient theater.

Megalochori Village

Megalochori is one of the island’s most visited villages (alongside Oia). It’s filled with traditional Santorini houses and churches and winding alleys with lovely ocean views. You can also check out the taverns, listen to local music or visit one of the surrounding vineyards.
