Why Pictures Truly Don’t Do Destinations Justice

In this day and age, Instagram and Facebook have allowed people to share their travel adventures with the rest of the world constantly as they go. This, we believe, is a huge reason that traveling is more popular than ever right now. Fascinating pictures of landscapes and views all over the world are as accessible as they’ve ever been—almost like a built-in advertisement for world-class destinations. But here’s why these pictures, while they’re beautiful, truly never do the actual destination justice.

The Pictures Don’t Live Or Breathe

If you’re someone who thinks, “Well, why do I need to travel? I can just live vicariously through photos online, or on my traveling friend’s social media feed”—well, we’re here to tell you that you’re completely missing out.

The pictures that you feast your eyes on truly don’t even begin to compare to the actual place—because they don’t live or breathe the same way. Not only are your eyes infinitely more capable of taking in beautiful landscapes than a mere phone camera, but all your other senses feel it too. What you smell, what you hear—heck, even what you taste! It’s all connected, and it makes you feel so good to be there in person. So if you think a landscape looks good on camera, just imagine how much better it’ll be when you go there for real.
