Have you ever been cleaning and come across a picture from a past trip? One of those photos that you find and think, “I forgot about that!” The night out, the meal you ate, the beautiful sunset, any small detail that you wanted to remember forever? Consider keeping a travel journal. It’s a perfect practice for preserving memories unique to you that you can take with you anywhere and revisit any time you’re feeling nostalgic. Add pictures or ticket stubs, anything that made your trip special!

Choose Your Journal

Pick something you love that you’ll actually want to write in. Maybe one that fits the theme of the place you’re visiting, or one you find in a quaint little bookshop. Even the physical design of the journal can play a part—do you like spiral notebooks or bound ones? There is no “write” or wrong!

What to Write

This part is really up to you, but we recommend ending each day of your trip by taking a few minutes to write a detailed account of your experience. Even if all you did was lay on the beach, take some time to think about how you felt there, what it smelled like, or how the water looked. Not only are you creating an incredibly personal souvenir that you can treasure forever, but taking time to reflect is also a great way to make the most of your experience. It’s important to be present, and journaling about each day is sure to help you do just that.
