Located south of Tokyo, Yokohama is one of the most popular day trip destinations to visit in the capital of Japan. This port town is home to many attractions that will keep you occupied and its amazing food museums are reason enough to give it a visit.

CupNoodles Museum is Yokohama’s most popular food museum and it’s truly one of a kind. It’s dedicated to instant ramen noodles and their inventor, Momofuku Ando. In addition to exploring the history of this beloved Japanese dish and its founder, CupNoodles Museum features many interactive, kid-friendly exhibits on creative thinking.

To make the whole thing even better, this isn’t even the only museum dedicated to noodles in Yokohama. Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum is also worth the visit—it’s basically a food court and a museum wrapped into one, featuring many food stalls exploring ramen dishes from different regions of Japan.

You now have these two food museums to explore while in Yokohama, but there was a time when this city was home to one more—Yokohama Curry Museum. This historic museum used to operate between 2001 and 2007, offering curry tastings and recreation of the city’s iconic port, but it eventually closed its doors.
