South America is a stunning and mostly unexplored continent which definitely deserves the world’s attention. Full of great regions, it enchants with its thousands of natural landmarks.

One such interesting place is the Salar de Uyuni or the great salt flat. This incredible attraction is located in the south-west of Bolivia, close to the Bolivian border with Chile.

The salt flat spans over more than 4000 square miles and is the largest of its kind in the world. What is even more interesting is the fact that it’s located 11,995 feet above sea level. The best way to reach this natural phenomenon is by traveling to the city of Uyuni from where you can take a tour to the salt flat.

You can visit the salt flats throughout the year. Even though still beautiful from April to October, the flats usually look like a great salt desert in that period. However, in October, the rain season begins in Bolivia and the salt flat turns in to an amazing mirror that spans for miles. The reflective surface of the flat provides a stunning opportunity to take some of the most amazing photographs you have ever taken. All in all, it’s a place you won’t regret visiting!
