Technology has in many ways totally ruined us—but love it or hate it, we can’t live without it. As much as we may want to disconnect from technology while on vacation, the internet is full of apps that can make traveling so much easier (particularly in a foreign country). Here are the ones that every traveler should download.
Hopper
Booking flights can be a tricky business. Prices are constantly fluctuating and buying a ticket at the most affordable price can feel a bit like playing the stock market. That’s where Hopper comes in. The app does the guess work for you by predicting when prices will rise and fall, and will notify you when it’s time to hit book.
Google Maps
Being in a foreign city can sometimes make you feel like Alice did in Wonderland. The young girl may not have had Google Maps, but you do. Not only will the app provide walking directions to wherever you’re going, it will also offer bus routes and show you restaurants, coffee shops, and attractions in the area.
Google Translate
Humans are communicators by nature, so it can be incredibly frustrating when a language barrier stands in the way. It’s always a good idea to learn some local phrases before heading to your destination, but Google Translate can help with the heavy lifting. Want to know what that street sign says? Type it in the app. Want to make sure you properly understood the taxi driver? Hello, Google Translate. We may or may not have also had entire conversations using this app.
