Due to its location on the shores of the Indian Ocean, Durban is best known for its beautiful beaches. If you’re visiting this South African city with your family, a day at the beach is a no-brainer, but there are many other kid-friendly spots you can explore during your visit.

uShaka Marine World

One of Durban’s most popular family attractions, uShaka Marine World is one of the most impressive aquatic theme parks you’ll ever see. It’s separated into eight different sections, offering everything from water parks and diving adventures to one of the world’s largest aquariums.

Umgeni River Bird Park

If we had to pick one place in Durban that will give your entire family a new appreciation of Mother Nature, it would be this bird park. It’s home to many exotic bird species, including several vulnerable ones, which are being conserved at the park.

Minitown

If you’re in the mood to experience South Africa on a smaller scale, this park with miniature building models is the place to be. It’s been around for half a century, and it features many buildings inspired by Durban’s main landmarks, but it’s not a direct mini model of the city itself.
