Scotland is a beautiful country with plenty of great places you can visit. The most popular are cities like its capital, Edinburgh, and Glasgow, but there are many smaller places that are incredibly charming and offer a different perspective of Scotland. Here are our favorite small villages in this country.

Crovie

Located in Aberdeenshire, Crovie is a small, picturesque village that dates back to a time when sea transport was used for everything and anything. The village contains a single row of houses and they look like a postcard!

Hirta

Hirta is one of four islands that belong to the St. Kilda archipelago, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The other three are Soay, Boreray, and Dun. Hilta is uninhabited but you can visit it to see the remains of life from 2,000 years ago.

Luss

Village Luss is located in Argyll and Bute and it’s very popular among tourists, so you’ll likely see crowds when you visit. Don’t let this discourage you, because all those people visit it for a good reason. Luss is a unique place where you can see cottages from the 18th century and you will feel like you’re in a historic TV show!
