Kenya is home to countless natural wonders, and Lake Nakuru is one of the very best that you shouldn’t miss during your visit. Probably the most beautiful of all the Rift Valley lakes, Lake Nakuru is one of the must-see attractions in this African country, and here are three reasons why you should check it out.

Pink Flamingos

Lake Nakuru is best known for being home to a large colony of pink flamingos. It became one of Kenya’s most Instagram-friendly attractions thanks to the myriads of fuchsia pink birds nesting along the shores, and you can reportedly find around two million flamingos on its grounds.

Other Wildlife

Flamingos aren’t the only birds flourishing in this area, and there are around 400 native species on its shores. Lake Nakuru is also known for its rich wildlife, and it’s home to warthogs, baboons, black and white rhinos, and many other large mammals.

Surrounding Attractions

This lake is a part of the Lake Nakuru National Park, offering many other breathtaking natural attractions on its grounds. Other Rift Valley lakes are also worth checking out, and you can stop by some of them on your way to Lake Nakuru if you’re visiting it from Nairobi.
