3 Things to Enjoy During Your Trip to South Korea

Most of our travel plans for this year have failed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but that doesn’t mean we can’t plan future trips. If visiting South Korea is on your bucket list (and it definitely should be!), here are three things you can look forward to. Of course, this is just the beginning of a very long list, but these are the things most people would enjoy.

Amazing Architecture

The capital of Korea, Seoul, has so many things you need to see, but the first stroll around the city will make you notice all the incredible architecture. Some of the most prominent buildings are Ewha University, Dongdaemun Plaza, and Kring Kumho Culture Complex.

Food

It’s true that you can get Korean food pretty much everywhere, but Korea is the best place to try some authentic dishes that may not be as popular in the West. You can go for famous Korean barbecue or something different like tteokbokki rice cakes.

Title: 곱창 먹어보는 외국인 lmao This is something that no one really told me about how famous/common they are in South Korea. 곱창 and 막창. They're intestines of I honestly don't know what animal (google says its mostly beef but sometimes pork). Though I've known of their existence through a Korean friend I had, I never expected it to be…big. Then I went to Korea, walked around this not so touristy area around the university and noticed that there's a whole lotta place selling them. So I thought "what's the deal?" and promised myself to try it. Now, I know Indonesians eat innards (?) as well but I honestly never really liked it here, which made me scared to try it when I was in Korea. A few times I researched about the good places (and found one that is apparently very famous?), talked about it to my friends, made promises to try it, but we never had the courage to do so as we keep postponing it lol. So what happened? One day our atti group (similar to buddy in UI) decided we should meet up and have a meal together, and the option to have 곱창/막창 came up. So we went. Yes, it took us a Korean person to guide us there before we finally tried it. And well, I'm glad we did. This is unlike the intestines I've tried here. The 데리야키 막창 especially was very good as the meat was slightly crisp and the sauce was like sweet, caramelized, and a bit smoky. I didnt even know intestines could be grilled to be quite crispy, similar to chicken skin. So after this really long story, what do we learn? Dont be afraid to try! Yes, intestines may sound weird and look weird and you might have never had it all your life, but after trying it turned out to be delicious and we might have missed out on this had we chickened out forever. So let's say what if this turned out to be really disgusting? Well, now you have the experience of trying it and a story to tell. But really, tell me when else are you gonna have something like this? There's even barely any authentic korean bbq around here. So while you have the chance, take it! Yay I feel like my really long caption isnt good enough : D For yall who are curious: This is from 홍곱창 in 회기 area #회기맛집추천 #홍곱창 #koreanfood #koreanbbq #intestinebbq

Gorgeous Nature

Take a trip outside of Seoul to enjoy the beautiful nature of South Korea. If you’re not sure where to go, you can’t go wrong with the Bukhansan National Park. It’s a great place to spend a relaxing day and to explore quiet temples.
