Mexico is a destination every traveler should visit at least once. Once, however, probably won’t be enough for you to see all the amazing things it has to offer, so you need to make a careful plan and leave room to come back for the rest. One of the most beautiful sights is called Grutas Tolantongo, or Tolantongo Caves in English. This hidden gem is located in central Mexico and here are three things you should know about it.

Why Visit?

Grutast Tolantongo is a place known for hot springs, but they’re not some ordinary hot springs. As the water comes out of a cave, it forms a stunning pool and a waterfall that looks like it’s not from this world!

How to Get There?

Grutas Tolantongo is easily reachable from Mexico City so it’s nice to spare a day to visit it if you’re visiting Mexico’s capital. Beware that many Mexico City residents go there during weekends so it can get a bit crowded.

What Does it Include?

There are four main areas in Grutas Tolantongo: the cave, the tunnel, the small pools, and the river. The warm water comes directly from the cave. You can enter the cave through the waterfall and this sole experience makes the trip worth it. But wait till you get to the bluest river you’ve ever seen and the pools that make a perfect relaxation spot! The pools are actually man-made but they fit the whole area nicely.

The Covid-19-related safety measures are listed on their website but the entrance is currently allowed.
