Fountains rarely get as much attention as other architectural structures, but they definitely deserve it—especially in Chicago. This city is filled with more amazing fountains than we can count, and here are a few you should check out during your visit.

Crown Fountain

This fountain is impossible to miss, and not only because it’s located in Millennium Park. This interactive art piece projects videos of citizens of Chicago, with water flowing from their mouths, as a reference to mythological creatures featured on classic fountains.

Buckingham Fountain

Chicago’s Grant Park is filled with everything from gardens to performance venues, but Buckingham Fountain is its most magnificent spot. It’s one of the largest fountains in the world, and it’s truly magical to see it in the winter when it’s decorated with festival lights.

Centennial Fountain

Centennial Fountain is one of the most interesting landmarks on the north bank of the Chicago River. In addition to featuring a tiered fountain waterfall, this structure is best known for its water cannon, which shoots a large eighty-foot water arc across the river every hour.
