What Is Volcano Boarding?

In short, volcano boarding is an extreme sport performed on volcano slopes. Also known as “volcanog” the sport involves hiking up a volcano then sliding down the slope on a metal board.

Where Can I Try It?

The most popular slope is the Cerro Negro in Western Nicaragua. You can also try it on Mt. Yasue in Vanuatu.

Is It Safe?

There are many risk factors associated with volcano boarding. It is therefore essential that protective gear and goggles are worn. Research the company offering the sport to make sure it is reputable. They will do everything in their power to keep you safe.

What’s It Like?

Thrilling. Volcano boarding is considered to be of the most extreme activities the inexperienced thrill-seeker can try. You’ll race down the side of the volcano at speeds as fast as 45 mph. It’s slightly insane but extremely fun.

If you are planning on embarking on a long trip, choosing the right backpack is essential. If you end up with an uncomfortable or poor quality bag, your trip could be ruined by back pain, damp clothes, and lost belongings.

Here is a guide to choosing the best backpack for your trip.

Contoured Straps

Contoured (or S-shape) straps are contoured to the shape of your body. This ergonomic design is far more comfortable than your standard vertical straps. If the straps are padded, that’s even better.

Additional Sternum or Hip Straps

Backpacks with hip straps redistribute the weight from your shoulders to your hips. This makes the weight of your bag easier to carry and saves you from back pain.

Waterproof Material

If you are trekking in wet climates, investing in a waterproof backpack is essential. The last thing you want on your trip is your belongings getting damp on the walk.

Plenty of Pockets

Rucksacks with plenty of pockets not only help you organize your belongings better, they also help with weight distribution. Keeping your belongings in separate compartments makes the weight easier to bear. Having a padded compartment for your laptop is also a plus.

Durability

Before you purchase a backpack, read the reviews. It is important to invest in a backpack that will see you through your whole journey, so make sure you choose something sturdy and durable.

This year, Universal Studios cancelled its infamous “Halloween Horror Nights” in response to new health and safety measures. Shortly after, the Studios announced that they would instead be hosing “Haunted House Weekends” during October.

The houses will include the maze “Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives” and “Revenge of the Tooth Fairy.” As usual, there will also be scare zones, shows, and other Halloween-themed activities. The haunted houses are the main attraction of the event.

According to the Orlando Informer, these haunted houses “are best described as ‘movie-set quality’ recreations of fantastic and fearsome locations. Sometimes referred to as mazes, each house is indoors, often set up in the unused queue area of a daytime attraction or one of the Universal soundstages.

“These haunts rely on every effect you can imagine to scare the pants off you—including hideous creatures, blood-curdling sound effects, loud music, tight passages, strobe lights, air bursts, mirror effects, and, of course, very elaborate—and, in many cases, very gruesome—props and set decoration.”

Guests will be sent into the haunted houses in small groups in accordance with the latest Covid-19 rules.

You can grab more details on the spooky event here.
