Banksy’s Most Famous Street Art in Bristol, England and Where to Find It

Banksy is undoubtedly the world’s most famous street artist. He’s renowned for his satirical works that deal with current events and minimalistic but effective style. While Banksy keeps his identity hidden, he did reveal on several occasions that he’s from Bristol, England. Here, he did some of his most famous art, and most of it still remains intact and on display for everyone to check out.

The Mild, Mild West

Location: No. 80 Stokes Croft

The mural was created in 1999 and depicts a teddy bear throwing a bomb at riot police. It is believed that the art was painted in response to police efforts to end illegal rave parties in the late ’90s in Bristol.

Girl with a Pierced Eardrum

Location: Albion Docks in Hanover Place

Girl with a Pierced Eardrum is Banksy’s take on Johannes Vermeer’s iconic painting Girl with a Pearl Earring. Banksy painted the piece in 2014, opting to have a security alarm standing in for a pearl earring from the original.

The Grim Reaper

Location: M Shed, Princes Wharf, Wapping Rd

Initially, The Grim Reaper was painted on the walls of Thekla floating nightclub in 2003. However, the artwork was cut and put in the Bristol-dedicated M Shed museum in order to preserve it.

Well Hung Lover

Location: 7 Park Street

One of Banksy’s most curious works is Well Hung Lover, which shows a man hanging from the window his lover’s husband is looking for him.

Valentine’s Day

Location: Marsh Ln, Redfield

The piece was completed in February 2020 but was vandalized just 48 hours later by an unknown individual. It was later restored and can still be checked out at its original location.
