Beautiful Colombian Island of Providencia Deserves Your Attention

Providencia is a tiny, emerald green island in Colombia that wows visitors with its beauty when they first see it. It’s often called “the island with a sea of seven colors,” and it’s not hard to see why. The residents and visitors of the island have a unique chance to enjoy the views of the colorful sea while they’re resting on the beach near a palm tree.

Speaking of palm trees, you should note that this is a fairly remote island with not too many tourists, so sitting down right under a palm tree is not a very good idea. Unlike other islands that are more commercial, in Providencia they don’t remove the coconuts from the trees meaning there’s a good chance of one falling on your head! Be careful and don’t let this happen.

There are around 5,000 residents on this small island and they speak English-based Creole. It’s safe and peaceful, which makes it great for visiting. However, the journey can get a bit long and expensive. You can get there from the nearby larger island of San Andrés.

The Providencia residents make a living off tourism and fishing most of the time. Many are into gardening.
