Bratislava is the top choice for many tourists who look to visit Slovakia. However, it definitely shouldn’t be the only one. This Central European country has plenty of other cities that you should look to check out while there. Here are some of the best.

Banská Štiavnica

Banská Štiavnica is one of the more unique places you’ll encounter in this part of the world. The town, which has a population of around 10,000, was once the important center of the Habsburg Monarchy. The remainders of its glorious past can be seen all around in the form of castles, churches, and monuments. It is actually one of the rare medieval towns that remained completely preserved, and this historical value led to the World Heritage Site proclamation by UNESCO in 1993.

Košice

Košice is Slovakia’s second-largest city. Located in the east part of the country, the city is known for its impressive landmarks and monuments representing different architectural styles. This includes State Theater built in Neo-baroque style, several Gothic churches, and the Historicism-style Jakab’s Palace. It is also big on culture, providing a home for a number of art galleries and museums.

Bojnice

Bojnice is worth visiting just because of its stunning Bojnice Castle. Originally built in the 12th century, the castle is visited by hundreds of tourists each year while also serving as a popular filming location for fantasy movies. Other tourist attractions you can enjoy during your stay here include the oldest zoo in Slovakia and some of the country’s best spas.
