Veganism has been becoming increasingly common around the world for years, and while we love seeing countries with traditionally meat-heavy cuisines rise in the global ranks in terms of plant-based dining options, we also have to give some credit to the places that were vegan-friendly before it was popular.

Thailand, with its abundance of fresh fruit stands and traditional veggie-centric dishes, is one such place, and it’s now home to plenty of completely plant-based cafes and restaurants as well. Here are some of the best ones we’ve found:

Bonita Cafe & Social Club, Bangkok

This family-owned cafe in Bangkok has been open for 10 years and in that time has become a staple for vegan locals and tourists alike. The menu takes a health-motivated approach toward veganism and includes simple dishes like soups, salads, and sandwiches. The owners also host gatherings at the cafe for those looking to socialize and meet other vegans.

The Vegan Table, Phuket

For vegan versions of just about any dish imaginable, be sure to visit The Vegan Table in Phuket. Offerings range from fresh-squeezed juices to avocado toast to vegan pizza and more. We especially love their vegan cheesecake for dessert.

Reform Kafe, Chiang Mai

Reform is one of our favorite places to eat when we’re in the mood for authentic Thai food dishes such as khao soi, a coconut curry soup with noodles. It’s set in a quaint little garden in the Green Tiger Guest House, an entirely plant-based hotel in Chiang Mai.
