Anyone who has ever seen Titanic knows that love can blossom onboard a ship (let’s just ignore the ending, shall we…) so it’s hardly surprising that Carnival Cruise Line decided to do its bit for Valentine’s Day.

Four years ago, the liner broke a world record for the biggest vow renewal at sea. The multi-ship event, in which 2,000 passengers got re-hitched, has now become a tradition.

This Valentine’s Day, couples on cruises that were docked Nassau, Puerto Vallarta, Cozumel, Grand Turk, and St. Maarten also got the opportunity to feel like newlyweds all over again.

“We see thousands of beautiful weddings and vow renewals take place on our ships every year, and this year we wanted to mark Valentine’s Day with an event that really brings people together,” said Carnival Cruise Line president, Christine Duffy. “You can see as these ceremonies unfold across our fleet, they are a perfect expression of togetherness.”

Not only did the renewals include a reception with a DJ, dancing, and champagne, it also had a special appearance by none other than Shaquille O’Neal!

The basketball star was given the title of Carnival’s Chief Fun Officer in 2018. As part of his prestigious role, Shaq officiated all the ceremonies digitally.
