Pretoria is South Africa’s administrative capital, and it’s worth the visit for its surrounding natural beauty alone. Natural reserves are scattered all around this city, and here are a few worth checking out during your visit if you’re in the mood to explore South Africa’s diverse flora and fauna.

Rietvlei Nature Reserve

Rietvlei Nature Reserve covers 4,000 hectares in southern Pretoria, including the nearby Rietvlei Dam. It’s home to a significant number of large mammals, ranging from cheetahs and leopards to zebras and hippos, in addition to being a heaven for bird lovers, with over 400 species living on its grounds.

Groenkloof Nature Reserve

Groenkloof Nature Reserve was the first game sanctuary in all of Africa when it first opened its doors in 1895. Over a century later, this reserve remains home to diverse flora and fauna, including 120 bird species and several game species, including zebras, giraffes, impalas, ostriches, and beyond.

Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve

Nestled in the foothills of the Moreleta Kloof, this nature reserve is a huge hit with hikers due to the many walking routes located on its premises. It’s mostly home to smaller game species, but you can also enjoy the abundance of the reserve’s birdlife during your visit.

Botswana is one of Africa’s top destinations for enjoying amazing natural sights, getting close to wildlife, and exploring local culture. However, before you book your trip to this uniquely amazing place, there are some things you should know.

Taking Guided Tours is The Most Convenient Option

We don’t blame you if you want to explore Botswana on your own, but taking guided tours is definitely a better option. Most of the country’s best experiences and destinations are away from urban areas and are quite inaccessible, while the road infrastructure leaves a lot to be desired.

Be Ready for Connectivity Issues

Getting internet or even a phone signal can often be an issue in Botswana, especially in remote areas. Be ready for this by carrying physical copies of relevant documents like proof of vaccination or booking confirmation, and make sure to have enough cash on hand for planned expenses.

Pack Both Warm and Light Clothes

Temperatures in Botswana can get unpredictable. The mornings and nights can be surprisingly cold while the heat takes over during the day. Pack both warm and light close to be prepared for any condition.

Have Enough Blank Pages in Your Passport

U.S. citizens don’t need a visa to visit Botswana for 90 days or less. However, your passport needs to be valid for at least six more months and have at least three blank pages.

Take Malaria Precautions and Bring Plenty of Insect Repellent

Botswana is one of the countries that have a high risk of malaria. Visit your doctor a few months before intended travel and get familiar with malaria precaution measures. Also, make sure to bring plenty of insect repellent to keep mosquitoes and other annoying insects at a distance.

If you’re interested in enjoying an African getaway, then head on to Cape Town, South Africa, a dreamy coastal city filled with thrills and spills. Still, with so much to do, it can be difficult to decide on your itinerary. Here is how to make the most of your Cape Town trip.

The Right Time To Go

Although Cape Town is beautiful throughout the year, going during the South African summer is best. Because the seasons are opposite to Northern Hemisphere countries, this South African gem will allow you to enjoy the warm sun and beach while avoiding the chilly weather back home.

Select Your Transport

Luckily, Cape Town has numerous modes of transport to help you get around. MyCiTi buses will be able to fetch you from the airport and take you to a variety of tourist hotspots throughout the city. Otherwise, you can enjoy a sightseeing tour with any of the Hop-On-Hop-Off tour busses or order an Uber if you don’t want to rely on public transportation.

Finding The Right Accommodation

No trip to Cape Town is complete without staying at one of the city’s luxury hotels. Bliss Boutique Hotel is an intimate hotel that’s perfect for a couple’s getaway, while The President Hotel Cape Town is the place to go if you’re searching for a spacious hotel situated close to all of the bars, restaurants, and tourist attractions.

Mauritius has long been one of the top choices for travelers looking to enjoy a tropical paradise vacation. The island’s pristine beaches, lush vegetation, stunning lagoons, and rich culture promise an unforgettable and exciting trip. However, if you are heading there in the near future or thinking about doing so, there are some things you should know.

U.S. Citizens Don’t Need a Visa

U.S. citizens can visit Mauritius without a visa. However, keep in mind that this only applies to short-term stays for up to 60 days.

It is Not Affordable as You Might Think

Mauritius is definitely not a budget destination. If you want to have a great experience, especially when it comes to accommodation, expect to part with a substantial amount of money for it. Additionally, flight tickets are not cheap, considering the island is in the middle of the Indian Ocean, and you will usually require a layover from the United States to get there.

You Can Visit All Year Round

One reason why Mauritius is so popular is because it offers amazing weather all year round. May to December is usually the best time of the year due to cool and dry weather with plenty of sunshine, but you can still expect to have an amazing time during other months.

There is Much More to Experience Besides the Beaches

While you are probably heading to Mauritius to relax and spend your time soaking up the sunlight, you should set aside some time for other activities. There is much more to experience here besides the beaches, including stunning nature, exotic wildlife, intriguing landmarks, temples, and more.

Mauritius is Safe and Welcoming

Mauritius is known as a safe destination with a low crime rate. While petty crimes like pickpocketing tend to happen, they aren’t any more frequent compared to other popular tourist destinations. Additionally, the island itself is very welcoming, with locals being kind to locals and always ready to help out.

There are a few things that the 2005 animated movie Madagascar gets right about the East African country, but if that’s your only point of reference, you’re in for a treat. Today we’re sharing some fun facts and insights about the beautiful country. Here are just a few reasons it’s absolutely worth the visit.

Unparalleled Wildlife

Madagascar’s long isolation has resulted in a staggering 90% of its wildlife being found nowhere else on Earth. The most famous residents are the lemurs—playful primates that come in various shapes and sizes. From the tiny mouse lemur to the iconic ring-tailed lemur, these creatures are a joy to observe in their natural habitat.

Otherworldly Landscapes

Madagascar’s diverse landscapes seem almost alien at times. Make sure to check out the Avenue of the Baobabs for a surreal sunset experience. The limestone karsts of Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park are another not-to-miss spot. They form a forest of razor-sharp rock pinnacles that create an otherworldly maze.

Culture With Character

Lastly, you’ll love getting to know the Malagasy people on your trip. Their culture is a blend of Southeast Asian and African origins. Explore the markets of Antananarivo and the traditional fishing villages along the coast for a taste of local life.

A visit to Morocco is incomplete if you don’t check out one of its iconic souks, and you’ll stumble upon countless amazing souvenirs along the way. If you’re struggling to decide which ones are worth buying, here are five options you can’t go wrong with.

Oriental Spices

Moroccan food is the stuff of legends, and if you’re thinking of making it on your own, don’t forget to bring some traditional oriental spices along.

Argan Oil

Argan oil is Morocco’s liquid gold, and you’ll see it pretty much everywhere you go. It’s widely used in skincare and haircare, and you can find it in many products these days, but there’s nothing quite like buying it in its country of origin.

Traditional Ceramics

You’ll stumble upon many hand-painted ceramics while exploring the souks around Marrakech and beyond, and they can do a great job welcoming the spirit of Morocco into your home.

Leather Goods

Moroccan leatherwork is truly one of a kind, and if you’re looking for a valuable, timeless souvenir to take home, leather bags, slippers, and clothing are a good investment.

Handmade Lanterns

Handmade lamps and lanterns are another popular souvenir you’ll find at every souk, and their radiant light has the power to transport you back to Morocco.

Morocco
