Easter Island (Rapa Nui) in Chile is a destination that every traveler should have on their bucket list. While getting to the island is a challenging task, you will be greatly rewarded for it. Tourists are able to enjoy the sight of thousands of mysterious statues, known as moai, scattered around the island as well as breathtaking nature and beautiful Anakena Beach. However, if you are planning to head there anytime soon, there are some dos and don’ts you should be aware of.

Do: Plan a Longer Stay

If you want to properly enjoy your experience at Easter Island, you should plan for a longer stay. In order to explore the island properly, you will need at least five days. This will allow you to appreciate the moai without any rush, get immersed in the local culture, and take a dip in crystal clear waters.

Don’t: Expect an Easy and Cheap Travel

Easter Island is one of the world’s most remote islands, so visiting it is both time-consuming and expensive. In order to get there, you’ll first need to travel to Chile’s capital Santiago, from where the only flights to the island depart. Then it’s a five to six-hour long flight until you reach the island.

Do: Hire a Travel Guide

In order to fully experience the Easter Island, you will need to hire a travel guide. The rules of Rapa Nui National Park, where most of the moai statues are located, stipulate that visitors can only enter with a certified travel guide and that independent exploration of the national park is forbidden.

Don’t: Touch the Moai

Touching the moai statues is strictly forbidden. Not respecting this rule comes with a hefty fine of several thousands of dollars.

Beautiful beaches are scattered all around Brazil, and Ceará happens to be home to some of the very best. This northeastern state is safely tucked away on the Atlantic coast, and many stunning beaches can be visited from its capital Fortaleza, starting with these three.

Canoa Quebrada

Located in the charming municipality of Aracati, Canoa Quebrada is one of the most unique beaches that you’ll ever come across. Its bright red cliffs and dunes make it a sight to behold, but the small fishing village nearby is also one of the reasons why it became a huge sensation with tourists.

Morro Branco

Ponta Grossa

Ponta Grossa is another stunning beach that will win you over with its magical dunes, red stones, and crystal-clear waters. It’s a true gem of the Icapuí multiplicity, and you’ll feel right at home during your visit if you’re a seafood lover in the mood to try some local treats.

There are a few cities that have made their everyday life a bit brighter with their colorful architecture lining their streets. From historical hues that tell stories of the past to contemporary color palettes, the bright colors give a special feel to these locations. Let’s take a look.

Burano, Italy

Burano is a picturesque island famous for its brightly colored fishermen’s houses. The kaleidoscope of colors here isn’t just for aesthetics. It had a practical purpose. Fishermen started painting their homes in vivid colors to distinguish them through the thick fog common in this area.

Cartagena, Colombia

Cartagena’s old town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a stunning example of colonial architecture brought to life with a palette of rich colors. There are many pastel-colored buildings in the historic district. You can also find brightly painted facades in the neighborhood of Getsemani. So enjoy exploring all of Cartagena’s colorful corners.

Jaipur, India

Known as the “Pink City”, Jaipur’s color story is full of historical meaning. In 1876, the city was painted pink, a color traditionally associated with hospitality, to welcome the Prince of Wales. Today, its historic center retains this pink hue. The Hawa Mahal and the City Palace are two of the most notable examples.

When you think of Peru, your mind might immediately jump to the iconic Machu Picchu. But savvy travelers know that Lima, the country’s capital, is a destination in its own right. This coastal city is a melting pot of cultures, flavors, and experiences that can rival any world-class destination. Let’s explore three reasons why Lima should be more than just a stopover on your Peruvian adventure.

A Gastronomic Paradise

Lima has earned its place on the world stage as a culinary capital. The city is most famous for its ceviche, but you’ll discover so much more on the way. Try anticuchos (grilled beef heart skewers), causa (a layered potato dish), or the refreshing pisco sour to start your foodie tour.

Ancient Ruins in a Modern City

Lima’s history stretches back thousands of years. The city is home to several pre-Columbian sites, including the adobe pyramid Huaca Pucllana in the heart of the Miraflores district. These ancient ruins give a fascinating contrast to the modern cityscape surrounding them.

Pacific Ocean Views

Lima’s location along the Pacific coast opens breathtaking ocean views and a range of coastal activities. The Malecon, a six-mile stretch of parks along the cliffs of Miraflores, offers perfect spots for paragliding, strolling, or simply watching the sunset over the ocean.

Belo Horizonte is one of Brazil’s most underrated cities, but fans of modern architecture can’t get enough of it. If you’re in the mood to explore some unique contemporary buildings during your visit to this city, here are three worth putting on your travel itinerary.

Church of Saint Francis of Assisi

Oscar Niemeyer designed many iconic buildings all across Brazil, but this is certainly his best work in Belo Horizonte. He wanted to experiment with reinforced concrete while designing this building, and its distinctive curved design and blue ceramic tiles quickly transformed it into one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.

Casa do Baile

Just like the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi, this architectural marvel is also a part of the Pampulha Modern Ensemble. They’ve both been designed by Oscar Niemeyer, and this building became a major landmark thanks to its curved form that perfectly fits into its natural surroundings.

Cidade Administrativa

Oscar Niemeyer was also in charge of designing the headquarters of the state of Minas Gerais, and he was up to the task. The complex that houses Cidade Administrativa features several sleek, minimalist buildings on its premises, including the futuristic main building with a dark glass facade.
