There are many reasons that people choose to travel. Some want a chance to get away from the stresses of life and lay on a beach, others want to admire the architecture of ancient buildings. And some have history as their prime motivator.

Many head to ancient countries like Italy and Greece to learn about their rich histories, but the United States has an interesting one of its own to share.

It has been 55 years since Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination, and January 15 marks what would have been his 94th birthday. The date is commemorated each year as Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

To celebrate this year, the King family will be hosting a 3-day tour that will allow guests to walk in the footsteps of the civil rights activist.

Entitled the Continuing the Dream tour, it includes visits to the MLK Memorial, the MLK Library, the National Cathedral, and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, amongst others. It will also feature a farewell dinner with the King family on the final night.

“We invite you to spend the weekend traversing the landmarks that memorialize MLK’s vision, through a unique, three day, Washington D.C. tour, hosted by MLK’s legacy, his son, Martin Luther King III, his wife Arndrea, and their daughter Yolanda,” reads the tour description.

The Continuing the Dream tour is set to take place on February 17-20, with costs starting at $1,899 per person for a double occupancy room.
