Barcelona is a great city to visit, where you can be busy for four days or even longer because there is so much to see and do. The surrounding regions have so much to offer, from beautiful beaches to mystical mountains. If you find yourself in Barcelona, here are a few day trips and locations you could visit in the region.

Montserrat Mountain

This sacred mountain range is 38 km away from Barcelona. Its beauty, fame, and religious significance make it a top location for many visitors. Some even visit the Montserrat region first and then visit Barcelona. Many see the Benedictine Abbey, which houses the Black Madonna. This small wooden statue is believed to be carved by Saint Luke in Jerusalem and later found by Catalan shepherds. From here you can have a great view of the whole of Catalonia. Meanwhile, the mountain range is impressive and beautiful with its serrated peaks and magical limestone.

Penedes Wine Region

Just south of Barcelona is the scenic countryside and one of Spain’s foremost wine-producing regions. This region is most famous for producing Cava, the Spanish Champagne. With plenty of vineyards producing red and white wines, visiting this region and enjoying some of Spain’s best wines is a no-brainer.
