Greek cuisine is something that needs to be more appreciated. Many European countries and Mediterranean dishes primarily influence the country’s cuisine. Interestingly, the flavors do change depending on geography and season. This is dependent on the fresh vegetables, fish, and seafood which all play a significant role in the dishes.

Dolmadakia

Dolmadakia are grape leaves usually filled with ground lamb or beef and rice. Traditionally, this dish is served as an appetizer with lemon wedges. While some might not find them the most attractive dish, don’t let their look ruin your experience.

Gyros

Gyros are an economical meal and are extremely popular street food. The meat is usually roasted on a vertical turning spit called a Gyro. This meat is thinly sliced and placed on a pita with various sauces, salads, and potato chips.

Kektehes (Meatballs)

A Greek meatball is like no other meatball you have tried. These are usually served as an appetizer with a creamy sauce of tzatziki and pita bread. However, some restaurants do, in fact, serve this as a main meal with rice and feta salad on the side.

Ellinikos (Greek coffee)

Ellinikos is the favorite style of coffee adopted in Greece. The coffee is served in a long-handled coffee copper pot. A perfect way to sit and let your food digest after a good meal, when you are not ready to get up from the table. There are typically three flavors ranging from solid and sweet.
