Japan is a fascinating destination with the perfect blend of old traditions and new technology. You can discover gorgeous natural landscapes outside the loud and vibrant cities, with some of the world’s best restaurants and bars. We are here to explain a few things you must know before visiting Japan. But, of course, you are not welcome to any surprise.

Safety

Japan is often listed as the world’s safest country and is known as one of the best places for solo female travelers to go. Still, it would be best to stay alert with any destination. You are always cautioned to be aware and not flaunt your money or go to shady areas not to provoke anyone.

Cash is Key

Many workers in Japan only being paid in cash. Therefore, many businesses, restaurants, and shops might not accept cards. However, your hotel and other specific services will accept cards. So it is always worth carrying money around.

Buying a rail pass

Getting a Japan Rail Pass can help you save a lot of money, especially if you are thinking of traveling around the entire region and getting out of the cities. So we recommend buying an unlimited pass so you are free to travel as you please. The pass also gives you access to the bullet train, which is an experience in itself. However, remember that these unlimited passes are only valid for a certain number of days– seven, 14, or 21. So if you are in Japan for less than that, it might not be helpful.
