Tourists usually head to Argentina when searching for South America’s most spectacular glaciers, but you can also find quite a few in its neighboring country of Chile. Amazing glaciers are scattered all around it, and here are three that you should definitely check out during your visit.

Grey Glacier

The title of Chile’s most picture-perfect glacier belongs to this attraction in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. Grey Glacier flows into the lake of the same name, and there are boat tours in the area allowing you to explore its jagged icebergs at a close distance, reaching 6 kilometers in width and over 30 meters in height.

Brüggen Glacier

Another spectacular glacier located within the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, Brüggen is the longest glacier in the southern hemisphere outside Antarctica. It’s also known by the nickname Pío XI Glacier, and it’s one of the rare glaciers in this area to record growth in the past century.

San Rafael Glacier

Laguna San Rafael is one of Chile’s most breathtaking natural wonders, and the glacier named after it is its biggest draw. It’s a part of the Northern Patagonian Ice Field, and the arc-shaped coastal lake surrounding it is just as spectacular as the glacier itself.
