Nigeria is a country located in West Africa between Niger and the Chad Republic in the north, Cameroon on the east, the Benin Republic on the western part and the Atlantic Ocean on the southern border.

Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa and the 8th most populous country in the world with more than 170 million people living there. This is just one of the interesting facts about this country.

There are more than 250 ethnic groups, with 3 dominant ones: Igbo, Hausa-Fulani and Yoruba. And the two major religions are Christianity and Islam. Igbos are mostly Christians, the Hausas are Muslims and the Yourbas are 50:50, one half is Christian, and the other half is Muslim.

The export of petroleum plays an important role in Nigeria’s economy and it contributes more than 85% of the total government’s revenue.

The second longest bridge in Africa, The Third Mainland Bridge, at the length of about 11.8 km, is also located in Nigeria. The bridge was built in 1990 and it connects Lagos Island to the mainland.

Nigeria is the home to the famous Nollywood films, the Nigerian movie industry, the second largest film industry in the world, is right behind Bollywood, the Indian film industry and ahead of Hollywood.
